BTS' Suga Bows In Apology After Police Questioning Over Drunk Diving Incident

After a DUI incident, BTS member Suga finished his first round of interrogation at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul.

New Delhi: Suga, whose real name is Min Yoon-gi, is a member of the world-famous K-pop group BTS. On Friday, August 23, he made his first appearance at Seoul's Yongsan Police Station to answer questions related to his Driving Under Influence (DUI) incident. The rapper was scheduled to be questioned around 7:45 PM KST after his public service obligations, and the probe was expected to end at roughly 10:54 PM KST.

At the police station, Suga arrived in an all-black suit and a buzzcut, indicating the gravity of the situation. Addressing the situation with composure and a sincere apology to his fans and the public, he bowed down before the journalists and addressed the matter.

"I'm really sorry. I want to apologise to the people who have been hurt and disappointed due to my wrongful actions. I am deeply reflecting on this and greatly regretting it. I will ensure that such a situation does not happen again," Suga said, as reported by Dispatch.

He further added, "I want to apologise to the many people who have given me love. Once again, I'm sorry."

Nevertheless, Suga remained tight-lipped about the specific questions posed to him during the interview. Additionally, he chose not to address the demands that he quit the organisation or comment on whether he was aware of the legislation that forbids anyone from operating electric scooters while under the influence.

What was the incident?

Suga was charged in connection with a drunk driving incident involving an electric scooter that occurred on August 6, 2024. The Yongsan Police Station formally charged Suga with breaching the Road Traffic Act when they discovered him operating an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol. Consequently, he was fined and his license was suspended.
