BTS' Agency Issues Strong Warning, Plans Legal Action Against Online Harassment Of The Band

BigHit announced it will pursue strict legal action against anyone engaging in defamation, personal attacks, sexual harassment, or spreading false information about BTS.

Despite being on hiatus for military service, BTS continues to dominate global headlines. However, the group’s agency, BigHit Music, recently addressed a troubling issue—malicious online attacks targeting the members.

BTS' agency issues statement against online harassment

In a firm statement posted on Weverse, BigHit announced it will pursue strict legal action against anyone engaging in defamation, personal attacks, sexual harassment, or spreading false information about BTS. "We regularly initiate legal proceedings against perpetrators of malicious activities targeting BTS, including defamation, personal attacks, sexual harassment, the dissemination of false information, and ill-intentioned criticism," the statement declared.

BigHit revealed that several offenders have already faced penalties, with fines reaching up to two million Korean won. One persistent offender, who uploaded hundreds of defamatory posts, was fined five million won. Despite these measures, some continue to harass the group, prompting BigHit to intensify its legal crackdown.

The agency disclosed ongoing lawsuits, including civil and criminal cases against individuals involved in stalking and leaking private information. A prominent lawsuit has been filed against Taldeok Camp for malicious activity.  “We are collecting, reporting, and pursuing legal action against malicious posts targeting BTS members currently fulfilling their military service. We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy, with no settlements or leniency extended to offenders," BigHit assured.

Evidence is being actively collected from social media platforms such as DCInside, Nate Pann, and TheQoo, with many cases already under investigation. The agency reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy, stating, "No matter the circumstances, we will ensure all offenders face consequences."
