Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh has addressed the confusion surrounding her and 'Poor Things' actress Emma Stone during the 96th Oscars ceremony, where Stone clinched the Best Actress award.

New Delhi: Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh has addressed the confusion surrounding her and 'Poor Things' actress Emma Stone during the 96th Oscars ceremony, where Stone clinched the Best Actress award.

Yeoh, alongside past Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Sally Field, and Jessica Lange, presented the Best Actress award at Sunday's ceremony. Each actress delivered a brief speech about this year's nominees — Emma Stone, Annette Bening, Lily Gladstone, Sandra Huller, and Carey Mulligan — before Stone was announced as the winner.

During the presentation, Michelle handed Emma Stone's Oscar statuette to Jennifer Lawrence on the Oscars stage, causing confusion.

As Stone approached the stage, she informed the women that her custom Louis Vuitton gown had ripped, approaching Michelle, who was holding the statuette.

According to 'People', Michelle, still holding the Oscar, walked over to Lawrence, who took it from her hands and presented it to Emma.

After Stone expressed her gratitude, she and Lawrence shared a laugh before embracing.

The incident led to online confusion among viewers, prompting Michelle to address the situation on Instagram.

In her post, the actress wrote, "Congratulations Emma!! I confused you, but I wanted to share that glorious moment of handing over Oscar to you together with your best friend Jennifer!! She reminded me of my Bae Jamie Lee Curtis, always there for each other.”

The post featured a picture of Michelle smiling as Lawrence handed the Oscar to Emma.

Michelle had won the Best Actress award in 2023 for her role in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once,' while Jamie Lee Curtis, who starred in the same film, secured the win for Best Supporting Actress.

Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence, longtime friends who initially met through Woody Harrelson, share a close bond.

Emma Stone has previously won the lead actress Oscar for 'La La Land' in 2017.

'Poor Things' follows Bella Baxter, a distressed pregnant woman, who commits suicide and is brought back to life with the brain of her unborn fetus.
