ABP News has organized the 3rd edition of India vs Corona e-Conclave on 1st July (National Doctors Day). This edition is all about celebrating & saluting these doctors, medical professionals, and healthcare workers who have selflessly led the fight against Covid-19 and shall also delve deep into discussions on India’s next big challenge – implementation of the national vaccination drive & preparedness for the 3rd Wave.
Popular actor Gurmeet Choudhary also joined the e-conclave and opened up about his Covid journey.
Gurmeet and his wife Debina Bonnerjee were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus last year and have since recovered. The actor opened up about his struggles while speaking in the conclave.
Thanking doctors for their endless support, the Ramayan fame actor said that “14 years of quarantine felt like 14 years of exile as the struggle was endless, both Debina and I was suffering from high fever and taking care of each other in isolation, had there not been these doctors we wouldn’t have survived.” He added, “ we use to call doctors endlessly and followed their instructions, the doctors have been very supportive and kind in this pandemic and no wonder they are our gods”

Gurmeet Choudhary has also launched ‘The Gurmeet Choudhary Foundation’, which he says will work at "enhancing the health care system" by focussing on a "plethora of diseases that the country faces year after year".
“When I started this campaign, I realised that maximum requests came to me with anxiety and panic. Yes, Covid is surely a deadly virus but fear is a greater one. Many people who were experiencing mild symptoms were panicking and immediately trying to book a bed in the nearest hospitals thereby reducing the chance of a serious patient. So, the idea to start his collaboration was to minimise the fear in people's mind," said Gurmeet.
Every year, July 1 is celebrated as National Doctors’ Day by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The day is observed to commemorate the birth and death anniversary of former Bengal’s Chief Minister Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy.
The day is dedicated to all the doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving the people by risking their lives. The COVID-19 pandemic has once again reminded us about the contributions and sacrifices made by doctors and healthcare workers around the globe.
