'I Didn't Believe Enough In Myself Until Anurag Kashyap Came Into My Life': Saiyami Kher On The Rejections That An Actor Has To Face
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne presented the R Balki film as the festival opener on August 14. Following this, the film hit the theatres all over India on August 18, becoming a huge success.
New Delhi: 'Ghoomar' which released on August 18, has received huge praise all over the world. The 14th edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne proudly presented the R Balki film as the festival opener on August 14. Following this, the film hit the theatres all over India on August 18, becoming a huge success. The Saiyami Kher and Abhishek Bachchan starrer not only garnered praise from the audience, but also from eminent cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar.
But, despite all this, Saiyami Kher did not show much emotion at the Indain Film Festival Melbourne. In an Instagram post, she wrote, "I've always kept everything bottled up. At the premiere of Ghoomer in Melbourne, everybody was sobbing. “Show some emotion Kher saab”, AB said as he hugged me after our standing ovation. But I stood there seemingly zen about everything. In reel life I can cry buckets, in real life, you will never know how I’m feeling."
Talking about the reason behind this, she said to ABP Live, "Yes, I am somebody who is very reserved. I don't express any kind of emotion and AB was laughing about it and saying that I need to express some happiness, some celebration. But, I am someone who keeps it all in, so that I can use it in front of the camera when I need to. In life, I am very very reserved."
After the huge success of 'Ghoomar', Saiyami Kher took to Twitter and wrote, "If you had told me a few years ago, that I would wake up reading the praise which I have received for Ghoomar. I would have never believed you. I didn't have that faith in myself, leave alone anyone else instilling it in me."
On being asked the reason behind not having faith in herself, Saiyami told ABP Live, "The reason is that you keep doubting yourself when you are rejected 99% times of your life and as an actor you face rejection 99 times out of 100 when you put yourself out there. I feel an actor's rejection is very personal, because it's on the way you look, the way you talk, the way you sit or stand. So, when you keep facing rejection so much, you start doubting yourself and that's probably where I kind of felt that I was not believing in myself enough until Anurag Kashyap came into my life and put that belief into me."
Talking about the fact that at times one needs a person to put that faith in oneself, Saiyami said, "I feel its either your support system, your family, some stranger who comes into your life unknowkingly. At some point or the other you have to draw the inspiration from within, but you need a little nudge, a little push from someone who truly is there for your good. So, I feel that if you are blessed with these people... otherwise you have to find the inspiration from within. Fortunately, for me I have been very blessed- I have got a Rakeysh Mehra, Anurag Kashyap, R Balki, who come in and give me that nudge whenever I need it."
Apart from 'Ghoomar', Saiyami was also seen in 'Breathe: Into The Shadows'.
