What Amitabh Bachchan said about Oscars
When Big B was named India's Prime Icon at the CBS/Big FM Awards in 2012, he remarked, "First of all, we have to accept that it (Oscars) is the foremost award. In my view, it is for a different field, cinema of a different kind and language. We should feel proud of our own country and its awards," according to an IANS report.
Bachchan further added, "If any other country feels that we deserve any of their awards, then it would be an honour for us."

As for 'Laapataa Ladies', the film has been selected for the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars 2025. Directed by Kiran Rao, the movie follows the journey of two young brides who get lost on a train and end up in unexpected places, facing various challenges along the way.
The film, which explores themes of women's empowerment, stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav, Chhaya Kadam, and Satendra Soni. It is produced by Jio Studios, Aamir Khan Productions, and Kindling Pictures, and is available on Netflix.
In his statement, Aamir Khan thanked the selection committee of the Film Federation of India and said he is proud of Kiran Rao.
The statement read, “We are all so happy with the news. I am so proud of Kiran and her entire team. I would like to thank the selection committee of the Film Federation of India, which chose our film to represent India at the Oscars.”
He added, “My heartfelt gratitude to our audience, our media, and the entire film fraternity, for all the love and support they have given Laapata Ladies. Thanks to both Jio and Netflix who have been great partners to work with. I am so happy that all our hard-work has paid off.”
Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in 'Kalki 2898 AD', directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Deepika Padukone, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani.
