Shah Rukh Khan shares why he debuted at the Met Gala 2025

Marking a milestone moment, Shah Rukh became the first Indian male actor to grace the prestigious red carpet. Reflecting on his historic Met Gala debut, Khan said,“I don’t know about history, but I am extremely nervous and excited. Sabyasachi has convinced me to come here. I have not done too many red carpets. I’m very shy. For me, it’s the first time. For me, the most exciting thing is that I have little kids who are very excited for the Met. I don’t know if I would have come on my own. When Sabyasachi invited me, they went, ‘wow!'. I still don’t know if that was ‘wow, they called you’ or ‘wow, you’ll be good on it’.”

Met Gala 2025: Shah Rukh Khan's debut at Fashion's biggest night

Shah Rukh Khan wore a stylish black suit with gold details, a walking cane, and accessories that matched the event’s theme. Designed by top Indian fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Khan’s look stood out for its elegance. He also wore a brooch and a long pendant with the letter 'K', a special nod to his nickname — King Khan.

Staying true to the theme, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,' the actor donned a custom-made, floor-length coat crafted from Tasmanian superfine wool. The coat featured Japanese horn buttons, wide lapels, and a peak collar, exuding timeless elegance. Underneath, he wore a black crepe de chine silk shirt, paired with sharply tailored trousers, and finished off with a pleated satin kamarbandh, adding a sophisticated touch to the ensemble.

The Met Gala, one of fashion’s most anticipated events, takes place annually on the first Monday of May. This year, Indian stars like Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh are making their mark at the prestigious event, while Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a regular attendee, is set to make her fifth appearance on the iconic red carpet.
