Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently marked 15 years in the film industry since her debut with Ye Maaya Chesave (2010). The Gautham Vasudev Menon directorial, which also starred her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya, played a pivotal role in shaping her career.

Reflecting on her journey, she shared that while some moments from the past 15 years “feel like forever,” others “feel like a blur.” She also candidly admitted to struggling in her initial years, saying she acted “so badly” in some films due to a lack of proper guidance and her unfamiliarity with the Tamil language.

Samantha had multiple releases in 2010, including Moscowin Kavery alongside Rahul Ravindran. Although shot before Ye Maaya Chesave, the film was delayed, making her debut film all the more special to her. She recalled, “But that film is a blur because we would shoot for a day, then have breaks, and resume after long gaps. However, Ye Maaya Chesave is different — I remember every single shot.”

Recalling first day on set

Revisiting her first day on set, Samantha shared that the first scene she filmed was Jessie’s meeting with Karthik at the gate. She reminisced, “The first scene I shot was the gate meeting with Karthik. I recall every little detail about that moment because it was a fantastic experience working with Gautham Menon. He knew exactly what he wanted and how the character should come across.”
