Ramayan's Sita Aka Dipika Chikhlia Slams Om Raut And Kriti Sanon's Kissing Act At Tirupati Temple

Dipika Chikhlia believes that these days actors don't connect on a spiritual level.

New Delhi: The parting kiss shared by ‘Adipurush’ star Kriti Sanon and movie director Om Raut in front of the Tirupati temple has caused an uproar. Internet users are split on whether or not they approve of the kissing actors shared while promoting the Ramayana film. Om can be seen kissing Kriti on the cheek in the now-viral footage. Netizens and the temple's high priest both reacted negatively, calling it a sinful deed. Actress Dipika Chikhlia, who played Sita in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayana', has also spoken out against what happened.

Dipika Chikhlia, who brought Sita to life on television, spoke out against the controversy amid claims of offending religious sensibilities. The veteran actress spoke during an interview with AajTak. She believed that these days actors don't connect on a spiritual level.

Dipika said, “I believe this is a significant problem with actors nowadays, as they neither enter the character nor understand its emotions. For them, the Ramayana must have been just a film. Perhaps they haven't connected with it on a spiritual level.”

Dipika, when asked about the event that occurred on the Tirupati temple premises, remarked, “Kriti is an actress of today's generation. In today's era, kissing or hugging someone is considered a sweet gesture. She would have never thought of herself as Sita Ji. It becomes a matter of emotions. I have lived the character of Sita, while today's actresses just consider it a role. After the film or project is over, they don't care anymore."

“Adipurush actors will also get busy with their next projects after the release and might forget about their characters. But such a thing never happened to us. We were treated as if we were gods descending from above and living in this world. That’s why we never did anything that would hurt people’s sentiments,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, ‘Adipurush’ has a stellar cast that includes Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan. The film is set to release on 16th June.
