Nora Fatehi Says She Refused To Wear Tiny Costume For 'Dilbar' Music Video: 'Don’t Oversexualise Me'
Nora Fatehi shared her experience of requesting a new blouse for the 'Dilbar' song, as the original one was too tiny.
New Delhi: Actress and dancer Nora Fatehi talked about the difficulties she had when she first started out in India's entertainment business at the recent Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. In a recent interview, she shared that she was not paid for the popular songs, ‘Dilbar’ from ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and ‘Kamariya’ from ‘Stree’. She also recounted an incident where she stood up against a vulgar outfit for a song.
Nora explained to Rajeev Masand how she took on unpaid jobs despite the fact that she needed money to pay for basic living necessities. She shared, “I did them for free because I said that it’s not the time for me to make money, right now is the time for me to prove myself and to make a name, and to work with credible people."
Nora Fatehi On Oversexualisation
Another noteworthy incident that Nora Fatehi recalled occurred on the shoot of ‘Dilbar’ when the given blouse was too tiny. She said, “When they brought me the blouse, it was too tiny and I had to put my foot down. I said, ‘Guys, I cannot wear this. Don’t oversexualise me. I get it, it’s a sexy song, we are all inherently sexy, but we don’t have to be vulgar about it. In the morning, when we were about to shoot the song they had to make a new blouse."
She added, “They had to reconstruct the new blouse that made me comfortable. To some people, it still looks over sexy maybe, but for me, it was whatever I was comfortable with compared to what they were going to give me."
On the work front, Nora Fatehi appeared in Kunal Khemu's first feature film as a filmmaker, ‘Madgaon Express’. She is now set to make her Telugu debut in an upcoming period drama ‘Matka’. The film stars Varun Tej and Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead.
