Indian cricketer Mohammed Siraj has finally addressed the ongoing speculation about his rumoured relationship with television actress Mahira Sharma. While Mahira has frequently faced questions about their rumoured romance during her public appearances, Siraj has now stepped in to put an end to the gossip, urging photographers to stop linking them together. 

Siraj's plea to the media

On March 20, Mahira attended an award function in Mumbai, where she was playfully teased by photographers about the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) and her preferred team. The lighthearted banter was caught on camera and soon went viral on social media. 

Reacting to the situation, Siraj took to Instagram on March 21 to set the record straight. He posted a story requesting paparazzi to refrain from associating his name with others, without directly naming Mahira. He wrote, “I request paparazzi to stop asking questions around me. It is completely untrue and baseless. I hope this ends,” followed by a folded hands emoji.  

However, the post has since been deleted from his account. 

Mahira Sharma denies dating rumours

Despite the ongoing chatter, Mahira previously denied these claims.  In a conversation with Filmy Gyan, Mahira Sharma was asked about fans expressing disappointment over reports linking her romantically with cricketer Mohammed Siraj. Responding with surprise, she said, "Kisi ka kuch nahi hai (There is nothing). I'm not dating anyone." 

When asked how she deals with such speculations as a public figure, Mahira explained that link-ups in the entertainment industry are common and often fueled by fan theories. "Fans can connect you with anyone. We can't stop them. When I work, I am linked to them (co-stars) too. They make edits and all. But I don't give much importance to all this. If you like this, do it, but there is nothing like this."

Speculation surrounding Mahira and Siraj’s romance surfaced last month after a report by ETimes claimed that the two had been getting close over the past few months but were keeping their bond private. The rumours gained momentum when Siraj liked one of Mahira’s Instagram posts, and both started following each other on social media.
