Khushi Kapoor On Why She Wore Sridevi's Gown For The Archies Premiere: 'Wanted Her To Be There In Some Way'

New Delhi: Zoya Akhtar’s musical comedy 'The Archies' marked the cinematic debut of Khushi Kapoor, daughter of famous film producer Boney Kapoor and Bollywood star Sridevi. At the premiere of her film ‘The Archies’, Khushi Kapoor wore her mother's champagne gold strapless gown. The young debutante accessorised her ensemble with a bold necklace, delicate earrings, and a chic hairstyle. Everyone noticed that Khushi was channelling Sridevi’s vibe for her big night. Sridevi wore this since the outfit at the IIFA 2013 red carpet. Reminiscing about how she wanted her mom to be there for the premiere, Khushi said in a recent interview why she wore her mother's outfit.

"When it came down to the premiere, I didn’t want to make any kind of fashion statement, it was an extremely big day for me,” Khushi remarked in an interview with Hindustan Times. 

She added, “I was nervous, and in the week leading up to it, I had an idea. I wanted to wear something of hers, whether it was a piece of jewellery or a dress. I felt I needed some extra support that day. It is a big deal, I wanted her to be there with me in some way. So I went through some of the old clothes we have here and picked it out.”

The actress reflected on her early days on set and how she became engrossed in storytelling. Khushi went on to talk about how she got to tag along with her mum on the set of 'English Vinglish', her first film after a long absence, which she thinks is her mother's finest work.

Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Yuvraj Menda, and Dot, all made their acting debuts in Zoya Akhtar's ‘The Archies’.
