KJo Declares 'They Are Made For This Industry' For Ibrahim Ali Khan, Khushi Kapoor After 'Nadaaniyan' Criticism
Karan Johar has addressed the fierce negative reviews hurled at his latest production 'Nadaaniyan' starring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor.

New Delhi: The Netflix release 'Nadaaniyan', a high school rom-com starring debutant Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor, hit the streaming platform in March and quickly found itself in the crosshairs of social media critics. The Karan Johar-produced flick, marking the acting launch of Saif Ali Khan’s son, faced a storm of backlash, but the Bollywood mogul is doubling down with unwavering support for his young stars and director Shauna Gautam in a fiery, heartfelt defence.
In a candid chat with Bollywood Hungama, Karan Johar tackled the harsh reviews head-on, standing firm by his vision. “I will stand by Nadaaniyan, till kingdom come. And I will tell you even today that Ibrahim and Khushi worked very, very hard. Shauna Gautam, the director of the film, worked supremely hard. Everyone put their best foot forward."
He explained, "We wanted to make a high school, cutesy, feel-good, snuggle-in-your-blanket film. If it didn’t land for people, we apologise. And I take full claim, I had loved the script when I read it. I found it a lot of fun and I was like, let’s do it. And of course, we got flak. Did it get more than I deserved? Let’s not get into that because that’s a point of perspective. I may have something, you may have another,” he declared, owning the project’s highs and lows with grace.
Karan Johar Shows Confidence in the Next Gen
Unfazed by the criticism, Karan Johar showed optimism for his young leads. “But I do believe these kids have glorious careers ahead of them. They are working very hard. They are learning from their mistakes, understanding their errors, improving their craft as we speak. And they are made for this industry and they will do very well. I will stand by them. I will always be their guiding light. And I hope one day that we can all as a team—whether it’s Shauna, Ibrahim, Khushi, and myself—that we all come back, stand strong on our feet and say, look, we learned from what we did. And now we’re in a better place. And I’m sure we will be,” he vowed, painting a bright future for the 'Nadaaniyan' squad.
Featuring Ibrahim, son of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, alongside Khushi Kapoor, the film boasted a star-studded cast with Mahima Chaudhry, Dia Mirza, Suniel Shetty and Jugal Hansraj. Despite the rocky debut, Karan Johar’s faith in this team’s comeback is a Bollywood saga worth watching!
