Honey Singh Talks About His Drug Addiction And People Who Led Him There: 'Few Very Big Names...'

Rapper Honey Singh addressed his drug addiction and how it had a huge impact on his family.

Rapper Honey Singh, also known as Yo Yo Honey Singh, was involved in substance abuse, causing a long hiatus from his musical career. In a recent interview with Lallantop, the singer-rapper Honey Singh addressed his drug addiction and how it had a huge impact on his family.

Honey Singh on his substance abuse

When asked about the people that introduced him to drug abuse, Honey Singh said, “Few big names, few very big names, very influential names. And they teased me, ‘Arey, Sardar bada tu Punjabi hai, daaru pee leta hai, yeh karke dikha.' Main kaha, ‘Kya hai ismei, do karta hu.' Kuch hua hi nahi. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, phir uski addiction lag gayi. (‘Hey, you're a big Punjabi, you drink alcohol, show us you can do this’. I said, ‘What’s the big deal? I'll do it twice’. Nothing happened. Then I did it 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times, and I got addicted).”

Honey Singh admitted that he was so dependent on drugs that he needed them before going to bed and after waking up. “Always high. Pata hi nahi kya kar raha hu, bol raha hu. (I didn't know what I was doing, what I was saying.) Always high,” he added. 

Honey Singh talks about his relationship with ex-wife

The rapper also said that his drug addiction also affected his relationship with his former wife Shalini Talwar. “Unke saath rishte itne badhiya nahi rahe the uss waqt. Dooriyan thi. Mei travel hi karta rehta tha. 2011 mei shaadi hone ke baad, 9-10 mahine humlog saath rahe thik thak. Uske baad success ekdum phaata. Mei phir ghar murha hi nahi. Mummy, papa, gudiya aur Shalini ko maine ekdum chhod hi diya tha. Bhool gaya tha unko main. Bohot kharab kiya. (Their relationship wasn't great at that time. There were distances. I was constantly traveling. After getting married in 2011, we lived together fine for 9-10 months. Then success hit suddenly, and I stopped going home. I completely neglected my mom, dad, Gudiya, and Shalini. I had forgotten about them. I treated them very badly.)”

Previously, Honey stated that Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Akshay Kumar contacted him amid his health crisis. “Akshay paaji ka call aata tha, wo follow up lete they, Deepika ne doctor suggest kia tha and Shah Rukh bhai ke yahan se regular phone aatey they. Meri family se poochhte they, main toh baat he nahi kar paata tha, sab ne bahut support kiya. (Akshay used to call and follow up about me, Deepika suggested a doctor and Shah Rukh used to call regularly too. I used to be unable to talk, but they would enquire my family about my health. They supported me a lot.)”
