Allu Aravind Proposes Ghajini 2 To Aamir Khan: 'I Wish To Make A ₹1000 Crore Film’

Aamir Khan is known for many cult films including his crime thriller 'Ghajini'. The 2008 film is one of his most successful films. 'Ghajini' became the highest-earning Indian film of the year and the first Bollywood film to collect Rs. 100 cr in the domestic market. Recently, at a promotional event for Naga Chaitanya's upcoming film 'Thandel' in Mumbai, producer Allu Aravind pitched 'Ghajini 2' to Aamir, and that has already raised anticipation among fans.

Producer Aravind shared that during the film's shooting, Aamir told him and the producer Madhu Mantena that 'Ghajini' would be the first film to collect Rs. 100 cr in India. He said, "In the middle of the film, he challenged Madhu and me on set that this (Ghajini) would be the first ₹100 crore film.”

When Aamir seemed unsure, stating that 'it does not sound like him', Aravind jokingly remarked that Aamir made the statement 'late at night'. 

Aamir then joked that, like the character in the film, he had 'short-term memory loss.’ Aravind then said, "Ghajini is the first film to enter the 100 crore club; it made history. And my wish is to make another…now it has become 1000. So I wish to make a thousand crore film with him, maybe Ghajini 2.” 

To which, Aamir replied in the affirmative and stated that there was a lot of chatter about the sequel on the internet too. 

Work front

Aamir Khan was last seen in the 2022 film 'Laal Singh Chaddha', the Hindi remake of the Hollywood film 'Forrest Gump'. In 2023, Aamir co-produced 'Laapataa Ladies'. The film will next be seen in 'Sitaare Zameen Par' which he will also be producing. There has also been speculation around Aamir playing a cameo in Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Coolie', which has Rajinikanth in the lead role.
