Adipurush Writer Manoj Muntashir Extends His Apology, Says, ‘I Accept People's Emotions...'

Manoj Muntashir has acknowledged that 'Adipurush' offended some viewers and apologised on social media.

New Delhi: Adipurush dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir has issued an 'unconditional' apology after the film's premiere last month. The film Adipurush, starring Prabhas as Lord Rama (Raghava), Kriti Sanon as Sita (Janaki), and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana (Lankesh), was released on June 16. Om Raut helmed this adaptation of the Sanskrit classic Ramayana, but the filmmakers were mercilessly mocked online for its terrible VFX and poor dialogue. Audiences considered the dialogues to be "cringeworthy” due to Manoj Muntashir's use of modern lingo.

Manoj Muntashir has acknowledged the film offended some viewers and has addressed the issue in a fresh note on social media. On Saturday, the dialogue writer took to Twitter and wrote, "I accept people’s emotions have been hurt by Adipurush. With folded hands, I extend my unconditional apologies. May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation."

The internet community has not accepted his apologies kindly.

His message got a lot of responses. One said, “Come on, better late than never. May Bajrang Bali give you power,’ another one wrote, "Nobody has insulted Sanatana more than you. Now stop this drama."

As the movie kept getting bad reviews, Manoj even denied that it was based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. Instead, he said, it was just "heavily inspired" by the story.

Some controversial dialogues in ‘Adipurush’ was rewritten after the film received widespread backlash and poor reviews. The All India Cine Workers Association has also sent a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Mumbai Police, requesting that they file criminal charges against the film's creators.

Meanwhile, Prabhas has now suffered a third significant setback following ‘Saaho’ and ‘Radhe Shyam’, but he is hoping to recover with the release of his next film ‘Salaar’ on September 28.
