The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sent a written complaint against actor Sonu Sood to the Mumbai Police, asking them to file an FIR against the actor immediately. The BMC has alleged that Sonu Sood converted his residential building into a hotel without taking necessary permission. While the BMC had sent him several notices on this regard, the actor failed to respond, because of which the BMC is compelled to take this step. The complaint was made against actor Sonu Sood and his wife Sonali Sood alleging that they carried out illegal development over a building.

Sonu Sood lives in Shakti Sagar, a building in Juhu, Mumbai. It is a 6-floor building, a residential one, which is allegedly converted into a hotel. The BMC said that Sonu Sood converted the building into a hotel without proper permission. Along with that, he has done other illegal construction in his building. The BMC added that despite two rounds of inspections, Sonu Sood has not made any changes, and therefore they had to send a written complaint to the Juhu Police Station, requesting them to immediately file an FIR against Sonu Sood in the matter. The said complaint has been signed by Mandar Wakankat who is a Junior Engineer with Building and Factory Department of BMC at the K West Ward.

As per the BMC, Sonu Sood was first served a notice on October 27, 2020, and the deadline to respond to that ended November 26, 2020. The BMC officials said that even though Sonu Sood was given a months’ time to respond, he did not reply.

The complaint letter said that the development work is in complete violation of the MRTP Act (Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act).

The BMC added that on January 4, 2021, another inspection was made, wherein it was found that more unauthorised development was done by the actor on his property. He, however, still hadn't replied to any of the notices.

The BMC was, therefore, compelled to send a written complaint against Sonu Sood, asking the police to file an FIR against the actor immediately.

Sonu Sood is known for his famous role in Dabangg, Simbaa and Jodhaa Akabar. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he was at the forefront of the relief efforts as he helped stranded migrant workers and students by arranging buses, flights and trains for them to reach their homes. He also sponsored the medical treatment of the needy and has been involved in numerous humanitarian activities.
