Aamir Khan To Forgo His Fees After Laal Singh Chaddha's Failure At Box Office - Report
New reports indicate that Aamir has opted to sacrifice his fee in order to help Viacom 18 recover from its financial loss.
New Delhi: Laal Singh Chaddha, the most anticipated movie of the year failed to a degree that no one was predicted. Unfortunately, Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan tanked at the box office and barely made Rs 100 crore. New reports indicate that Aamir has opted to sacrifice his fee in order to help Viacom 18 recover from its financial loss.
Whether it was the plot or the boycott trend, the film's business suffered for a number of reasons. Aamir, according to the most recent report on Bollywood Hungama, has opted to forego his salary for the film in order to make up for the producers' loss due to the film's poor performance at the box office.
“If Aamir Khan decides to charge his acting fees, Viacom 18 Studios would have entailed losses of nearly Rs. 100 crores. However, that loss is something that Aamir Khan has decided to absorb himself. Now, the producer will lose nominal money,” a source disclosed.
The source also added, “He gave four years to the film but has not made a single penny from it. His opportunity cost on Laal Singh Chaddha is upwards of Rs. 100 crores, but he has decided to absorb all the losses taking the complete blame of failure on himself.”
Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump (1994) has been adapted into a feature film titled Laal Singh Chaddha. It has been tried to adapt Lal Singh Chaddha into an Indian version of Forrest Gump.
The premiere of Laal Singh Chaddha was met with a chilly reception from moviegoers, and the box office performance of the picture was a complete and utter failure as a result. Although there was some success with the movie in other countries, it was not sufficient to recoup the substantial expenditure.
The film made a little over Rs 37 crores in its first weekend. The film made 11.50 crores on its first day of release. The film also stars Naga Chaitanya, Mona Singh, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, all of whom play important supporting parts with Aamir.
