National Film Awards 2024: The much-awaited 70th National Film Awards were announced today, August 16. The awards will be presented by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The National Film Awards honoured the recent best films, recognising outstanding achievements in Indian cinema. The winners will be honoured during an event in October.
National Film Awards 2024 to be announced
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) will announce the winners in a press conference at the National Media Centre, New Delhi. The event will take place at 1:30 p.m., celebrating contributions of filmmakers and artists across the country.

At the National Film Awards, Malayalam star Mammootty earned recognition for his outstanding work in the films ‘Rorschach’ and ‘Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam’. His dual roles in Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, have earned him immense critical acclaim. He is also a strong contender for this coveted national honour because of his compelling portrayal of Luke Antony in Roschach, which has also been noteworthy.
Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty, who won hearts with his performance in ‘Kantara’, is a nominee for the 70th National Film Awards' Best Actor category.
President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient in the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi in October 2024.
Allu Arjun received the Best Actor award for ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, while Kriti Sanon and Alia Bhatt took home the Best Actress award for ‘Mimi’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, respectively, in 2023. The winner of the Best Feature Film went to ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’.

The National Film Awards will have the live telecast on DD National 1:30 pm onwards on Friday. The ceremony will be aired live on DD National's YouTube channel for those who are unable to watch on TV.
