Planning To Send Some Jalebis To PM Modi: Pawan Khera Says As Early Trends Show Congress Ahead In Haryana and J&K

Assembly Election Results 2024: Congress is eyeing a comeback in the politically significant regions.

As initial trends show, Congress will gain a clear majority in Haryana and is on the higher side of seats for forming government in Jammu and Kashmir with their alliance partner National Conference. Party spokesperson Pawan Khera expressed confidence in his party's victory. Chairman of the Media & Publicity Department, Khera, on Tuesday morning, said, "We are certain that today will be a day of celebration for us, with plenty of laddus and jalebis to go around. We're even planning to send some jalebis to Prime Minister Modi... We're confident that we'll form governments in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir with a clear majority."

Early Trends As Of 9:15 AM

Congress in Haryana has a lead over 65 seats and BJP is leading over just 19 seats. While INLD has a lead over two assembly seats of Haryana others are leading on 4 seats.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress and National Conference alliance is ahead on 53 seats as BJP trails on 22 seats. PDP is leading on 4 seats while others have a lead on 10 seats, as of now.

A heated debate emerged over Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's authority to appoint five members to the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on the eve of the vote count. The Jammu and Kashmir BJP claims all five will be from their party, giving them an edge in government formation. However, opposition parties like Congress, National Conference, and People's Democratic Party have strongly objected, threatening to approach the Supreme Court. They question the LG's power to make these appointments without the aid and advice of the council of ministers, sparking a legal and political showdown.
