UP Polls: Youths Disrupt Rajnath Singh's Speech, Man Raises 'Akhilesh Zindabad' Slogan At Rally

New Delhi: Some youths interrupted Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's election address on the topic of Army recruitment, while a man was detained after raising slogans in support of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav at rally in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia.

The minister was speaking at a rally in Banshi Bazar when the youths disrupted is speech and claimed that recruitment in the Army was on hold for three years now, PTI reported.

Responding to it, Rajnath Singh said that the process was underway.

When they refused to budge, Rajnath said things take a wrong turn when politics is brought in (Netagiri se baat bigad jaati hai).

"I have full understanding of the problem. Due to the Covid pandemic, this problem cropped up. This is for the first time we are facing such a pandemic. Entire world is appreciating India for the way Narendra Modi worked in this situation," he was quoted by PTI in its report.

Later, as his speech was coming to a close, a person shouted, "Garibon ka masiha, Akhilesh Yadav zindabad!" When some BJP workers headed towards the man, Rajnath Singh told them to leave him.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tiwari said that the man was identified as Angad Yadav and had been detained. 

At the rally, Rajnath Singh accused Opposition parties of misleading people over the border issue with China, saying politics should be kept aside on the matter of security and the unity and integrity of the country.

Singh also accused the Congress, SP and the BSP of doing politics of hatred. "The Congress started the politics of hatred and the SP carried it forward," he said.

"We do not do politics of hatred nor do we discriminate on the basis of caste. e believe in Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam. We are one who feed milk to a black snake on Nagpanchami. Our policy is clear--justice to all, but appeasement to no one," PTI quoted Singh as saying.
