'You Complete My Family': Sonia Gandhi Pens Emotional Letter For Raebareli As She Opts For Rajya Sabha

Sonia Gandhi has penned an emotional letter for Raebareli, which has been the Gandhi family turf for years, as she opted for Rajya Sabha.

Sonia Gandhi, who filed her nomination as the Congress candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls from Rajasthan, penned a heartfelt letter for Raebareli -- which has been the Gandhi family turf for years. She said her relationship with Raebareli goes a long way and that it completes her family. Reflecting on the rich history and deep-rooted connections that tie her family to Rae Bareli, Sonia Gandhi acknowledged the pivotal role the constituency has played in her personal and political journey.

"My family remains incomplete in Delhi. It is complete only when I come to Rae Bareli," Sonia Gandhi remarked, emphasizing the relationship that flourished over generations.

Sonia Gandhi also expressed her pride in representing Rae Bareli and vowed to continue cherishing the enduring bond forged over the years.

"Whatever I am today, it is because of you," she said in the letter.

In the letter, Sonia Gandhi also made it clear regarding her decision not to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, citing health and advancing age.

Excerpt Of Sonia Gandhi's Letter Translated From To English From Hindi:

My family remains incomplete in Delhi. It is complete only when I come to Rae Bareli. This relationship is very old, and I have been fortunate to receive it from my in-laws like a blessing.

The roots of our family ties with Rae Bareli run deep. After independence, in the first Lok Sabha elections, you sent my father-in-law, Mr Feroze Gandhi, to Delhi after winning from here. After him, you made my mother-in-law, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, your own. Since then, this journey has progressed with love and enthusiasm through the ups and downs of life, and our faith has only grown stronger.

On this illuminated path, you also gave me the opportunity to walk. Leaving behind my mother-in-law and husband forever, I came to you, and you spread your shelter for me. In the past two elections, even in adverse circumstances, you stood by me like a rock. I can never forget this. I am proud to say that whatever I am today, it is because of you, and I have always endeavoured to uphold this trust.

Now, due to health and advancing age, I will not contest the next Lok Sabha elections. After this decision, I will not have the opportunity for your direct service, but, certainly, my heart and soul will always remain with you. I know that you will also handle me and my family in every difficulty just as you have been doing so far. Greetings to the elders! Affection to the young ones! Promise to meet soon.
