'Bow To Janata Janardan': PM Modi's First Reaction On NDA's 'Historical' Third Lok Sabha Win

In a first reaction to the results of the Lok Sabha election results 2024, PM Modi stated that people have placed their 'faith' in National Democratic Alliance (NDA), for a third consecutive time.

Reacting to the Lok Sabha election 2024 results, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday stated that people have placed their 'faith' in National Democratic Alliance (NDA), for a third consecutive time. Expressing gratitude towards the people of the country the Prime Minister thanked the party workers for their efforts.

"This is a historical feat in India’s history. I bow to the Janata Janardan for this affection and assure them that we will continue the good work done in the last decade to keep fulfilling the aspirations of people," PM Modi said.

"I also salute all our Karyakartas for their hard work. Words will never do justice to their exceptional efforts," he added.

The BJP has heavily lost in its strongholds of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan, although it is likely to form the government with about 290 seats. On its own, the saffron party has fallen below the majority mark, with leads in 242 seats despite major gains in Odisha, Telangana, and Kerala, offering some solace to the party after unexpected losses in the Hindi belt.

The I.N.D.I.A bloc, formed due to their common opposition to the BJP, has been leading in about 230 seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had alone won 303 seats, whole NDA had over 350.

The final numbers seem to fall short of the "400-paar" predictions by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the "370-paar" for the BJP. The exit poll results, which had forecasted a smooth majority for the NDA, were contradicted by the actual results on June 4.
