Pawan Singh Explains Why He Chose Bihar's Karakat Over Bengal's Asansol To Fight LS Polls As An Independent

Day after BJP clarified that Pawan Singh was offered a ticket and it was he who refuted the offer, the Bhojpuri film actor revealed why is he contesting against NDA in Bihar's Karakat.

Bhojpuri film actor and independent candidate from the Karakat Lok Sabha seat, Pawan Singh, on Thursday, said that he decided to contest from the seat because he had promised her mother that he would be contesting this election from the Shahabad region, which according to him is among least developed areas. Pawan Singh had announced his independent candidature from the seat. However, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manoj Tiwari earlier this week revealed that the party had offered him a seat from Asansol, but he refuted it.

"I took this decision (of contesting election) myself and after discussing it with my brothers and friends. I had promised my mother that I would contest the elections. In the Shahabad region, Karakat is the only place where there has been no development. I am fortunate that I am receiving so much love from people," Pawan Singh told PTI.

After announcing his candidature, Singh held mega roadshows in the constituencies. Day after his roadshows in the Karakat Lok Sabha seat, he suffered a setback as several cases were registered against the Bojhpuri film actor in many police stations including Karakat, Bikramganj, Sanjhauli, and Rajpur due to violation of the model code of conduct.

Why Karakat And Not Asansol? Pawan Singh Reveals

Singh had announced to contest the elections as an independent candidate from this seat. In a special conversation with ABP earlier this week, Singh revealed the reason for not contesting elections from the Asansol seat this time. As per reports, BJP leader Manoj Tiwari revealed that the saffron party had given him the ticket from Asansol, but he himself refused.

"We will tell him that he will be taken care of in the future, but Upendra Kushwaha is the NDA candidate from Karakat, so we will try our best to convince him not to contest the elections," Tiwari had said.

Pawan Singh Holds Roadshow In Karakat

Notably, many of Pawan Singh's fans gathered during the roadshow in Karakat Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday.  "This is a very fortunate thing for an artist. He said that he has been singing for 32 years and acting for 20 years. It feels great to see this love and blessings from the public. I am overjoyed after seeing the love of the public," Singh told ABP News.

The contest for the Karakat Lok Sabha seat in Bihar has become quite interesting. Pawan Singh, known as the power star of the Bhojpuri movie industry, announced his candidature as an independent candidate from this constituency and has been holding a road show in Karakat Lok Sabha constituency for the last two days, in which a huge crowd is gathering. Somewhere, difficulties have arisen for NDA candidate Upendra Kushwaha.

The Karakat Lok Sabha constituency will hold elections in the last phase (7th phase). The political battleground of Bihar's Karakat is all heated up with Pawan Singh contesting against NDA's Upendra Kushwaha. On the other hand, Rajaram Singh from CPI(ML) is in the fray from the seat.
