Narendra Modi is chowkidar of Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya and Mehul Choksi: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lying all day and said he is the "chowkidar" of the corrupt and fugitives like Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Vijay Mallya.

Patna: During a rally in Bihar's Purnea district, Congress President Rahul Gandhi taunted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday saying he is the chowkidar of "rich-men". He further added that Modi only protects and cares for the rich. Addressing a rally to launch the election campaign, Gandhi attacked Modi’s ‘Main bhi chowkidar’ campaign, saying "Modi has been doing chowkidari of Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya and Mehul Choksi. He is not a chowkidar for poor people." Interacting with the huge gathering, Gandhi said: "Modi hugs only rich people, not poor. Modi used to address common people as 'mitron' (friends) but he addresses Anil Ambani as brother." He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lying all day and said he is the "chowkidar" of the corrupt and fugitives like Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Vijay Mallya. He said that in 2014, Modi made big promises including two crore jobs to youth every year, Rs 15 lakh in the bank accounts of all, double income for farmers etc. But he has done nothing for the youths, farmers, poor. "In last five years, the self proclaimed chowkidar has become a chor (thief)," Gandhi said amid the chanting of "chowkidar chor hai" by youths. Gandhi claimed that Modi made promises but never fulfilled them. Gandhi said Modi's promises like job opportunities, income for farmers and "acche din", are all lies. He also said that Congress will ensure minimum income once it comes to power and change the Gabbar Singh Tax of Narendra Modi to GST with nominal rates. (agency inputs)
