Milkipur Result Live Updates: The counting of votes for the byelections to the Milkipur assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh and Erode East assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu will begin at 8 am on Saturday. The bypoll in the Milkipur seat, part of the politically significant Ayodhya district, was necessitated after Samajwadi Party leader Awadhesh Prasad vacated the seat following his victory from the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The byelections in Erode East seat were necessitated following the death of veteran Congress leader EVKS Elangovan, who won the seat in the 2023 bypoll after the sudden demise of his son, Thirumahan Everaa, due to a heart attack on January 4, 2023.
Milkipur Bypoll Results 2025
This seat is witnessing a prestige battle between the Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janata Party after Prasad's surprise victory from the Faizabad seat in Ayodhya district which came just months after the inauguration of the Ram temple. While there are 10 candidates in the fray, the contest is between Samajwadi Party's Ajit Prasad and the BJP's Chandrabhanu Paswan. The Congress is backing its ally Samajwadi Party on the seat while Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) has fielded a candidate. Bahujan Samaj Party is not contesting the seat.
Over 1.93 lakh men and more than 1.78 lakh women voters and eight third-gender people are registered to vote for the bypoll and according to the Election Commission, more than 65 per cent of the total 3.70 lakh voters exercised their franchise.
Erode East Bypoll Results 2025
In Erode East assembly seat, the fight is between DMK's Chandhirakumar and Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) candidate M.K. Seethalakshmi. A total of 46 candidates are in the fray from this seat where principal opposition AIADMK, along with BJP, DMDK, and Tamil superstar Vijay’s newly-launched political outfit, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), opted out of the contest.
The NTK focused the poll campaign on sharp criticism of Dravidar Kazhagam founder E.V. Ramasamy ‘Periyar’ and taking a confrontational stance against the DMK government. Meanwhile, the DMK centered its campaign on its governance achievements in a bid to solidify voter confidence.
The ruling DMK has exuded confidence of its victory saying Chandhirakumar is likely to win by approximately 1.25 lakh votes.
