UP Polls: Mayawati Is Helping BJP Due To Fear Of ED And CBI, Says SP MLA From Nagina
Nagina, a Muslim-dominated constituency in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, has been reserved for SC/STs since 1974. It has been a Samajwadi Party bastion.
Bijnor: Samajwadi Party MLA and Dalit strongman Manoj Kumar Paras has alleged that BJP was using enforcement agencies to threaten BSP supremo Mayawati. Paras also said that Mayawati was helping BJP out of fear in the Uttar Pradesh election.
"The BSP supremo is under pressure from BJP and is helping the party in this election," Paras, the MLA from Nagina, said.
Nagina, a Muslim-dominated constituency in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, has been reserved for SC/STs since 1974. It has been a Samajwadi Party bastion in this part of western UP. Nagina goes to the polls on February 14, 2022, in the second phase of UP election.
Manoj Kumar Paras, a two-time MLA from Nagina, has been fielded from the constituency this time as well.
Addressing a gathering at Kheda, a predominantly SC/ST village, Manoj Paras said, "I am not against BSP. I am not against Behenji (Mayawati). She is my leader as well, but today, the BJP has clutches on her."
"They have terrorised her, saying that if you don’t help us (BJP), then we will send you (Mayawati) to jail," he added.
BJP Using ED & CBI To Threaten Mayawati
Paras said the BJP had threatened Mayawati on sealing her property using the CBI. "Due to this fear, Behenji is helping the BJP. The same BJP that is trying to erase the Constitution written by Babasaheb," he said.
"Thus, I appeal to you all to vote for me, for the sake of Behenji. If the BJP is rooted out, then CBI and ED’s fear will also go away from Mayawati ji," Paras said.
BJP has fielded Dr Yashwant while BSP has given a ticket to Brajpal Singh. With Nagina being a Muslim-dominated constituency, AIMIM's Lalita Kumari becomes a candidate to watch out for.
