Lok Sabha Polls: Congress Working Committee To Meet On Tuesday To Approve Manifesto

The Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) will address the matter of finalising party candidates during its upcoming meeting. This follows the party's announcement of 82 candidates in two list.

New Delhi: The Congress Working Committee (CWC) is scheduled to convene on March 19 to deliberate and give the final shape to the party's manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Congress' central election committee (CEC) chaired by party chief Mallikarjun Kharge is also slated to meet on March 19 and 20 to conclude the selection of remaining candidates for the seven-phase polls commencing on April 19.

AICC General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party's apex decision-making body, is slated to convene on March 19 to approve the draft manifesto which carries the five 'guarantees' for justice.

Fight Elections On Issue Of 'Five Nyay': Congress

"The party will fight the elections on the issue of 'five nyay' (justice) -- 'Bhagidari Nyay', 'Kisan Nyay', 'Nari Nyay', 'Shramik Nyay' and 'Yuva Nyay' -- with 25 guarantees, five for each nyay, which have already been announced by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi", PTI quoted Jairam Ramesh as saying.

Jairam Ramesh made a pointed remark, "These are the guarantees by the Congress party and not by a single person." The remark was an obvious jibe at the prime minister who has been claiming to provide Modi ki guarantee, as per PTI.
