PM Modi To Address Election Rally In Balaghat On Tuesday
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an election rally on Tuesday in the Naxal-affected Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh during his second visit to the state in three days, a BJP leader said on Monday. The PM's rally at Balaghat is scheduled to start at around 2.30 pm, he said. This will be Modi's second visit to Madhya Pradesh in three days. On Sunday, the BJP's star campaigner held a roadshow in Jabalpur, which is the nerve centre of the Mahakoshal region.
Lok Sabha seats of Sidhi, Shahdol (ST), Jabalpur, Mandla (ST), Balaghat and Chhindwara will vote in the first phase on April 19. These constituencies are spread across Mahakoshal and Vindhya regions. Balaghat is locked in a triangular fight between BJP candidate Bharti Pardhi, Congress's Samrat Saraswat and BSP nominee Kankar Munjare.
In 2019, the BJP had won 28 of the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in Madhya Pradesh with the sole exception being Chhindwara which was retained by the Congress.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Assam on Tuesday to campaign for the Lok Sabha Elections in Assam's Guwahati. He is scheduled to address a public meeting at Chukuli Bhoria in Lakhimpur constituency in the afternoon, news agency PTI reported, citing sources.
Lakhimpur is also held by the BJP, with incumbent MP Pradan Baruah seeking a third successive term as he is pitted against Congress candidate Uday Shankar Hazarika. Shah will then take part in a road show from Chaliha Nagar to Thana Chariali in Tinsukia town in the evening, they said.
Tinsukia town comes under Dibrugarh seat, from where Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal is contesting as the BJP candidate. Sonowal is locked in a triangular fight with United Opposition Forum, Assam, nominee Lurinjyoti Gogoi and Aam Aadmi Party candidate Manoj Dhanowar. BJP holds the Dibrugarh constituency in the outgoing Lok Sabha. Sitting MP and Union minister Rameswar Teli was not nominated by the party this time.

BJP Murdering Democracy Ahead Of 'Festival Of Democracy': TMC's Abhishek
Senior TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday accused the BJP of "murdering" democracy ahead of the "festival of democracy", and predicted that the saffron camp would face complete decimation in the state in the Lok Sabha polls. Banerjee's remark drew sharp reactions from the BJP, which claimed that the TMC was tense as it felt that ground was slipping from under its feet.
"The BJP is wary about the outcome of the Lok Sabha results in Bengal and India. That is why they are desperate to murder democracy, and that too during the biggest festival of democracy - the Lok Sabha polls," Banerjee told reporters, as quoted by PTI. He alleged that there is a collusion between the BJP and central agencies, such as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), to harass the opposition parties.
Fractious Haryana Cong Displays Show Of Unity As Birender Singh Rejoins Party
The return of former Union minister Birender Singh to the Congress fold turned out to be an occasion for display of unity for the fractious Haryana unit of the opposition party.
Leaders of various factions in the state Congress have been holding separate rallies across the state and have hardly been seen together on a common platform. Even social functions, including weddings in the families of top leaders in the state, had failed to bring together the factions.
However, as Singh and his ex-MLA wife Prem Lata joined the party after a decade-long gap, all factions of its state unit were seen together after a long time.
Khadse Sees No Future With Sharad Pawar So He Is Returning To BJP: NCP Leader Praful Patel
Former Maharashtra minister Eknath Khadse's heart was always with the BJP and he is returning to his parent party as he saw no political future in the Sharad Pawar-founded outfit that he joined in 2020, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel said on Tuesday.
Khadse, an MLC of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), has said he would be returning to the BJP later this month, nearly four years after he quit the saffron outfit with which he was associated for decades. The former cabinet minister joined the undivided NCP in 2020 and was later elected as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
After the NCP suffered a vertical split in July 2023, he remained with party founder Sharad Pawar. Speaking at a rally, Patel said, "Eknath Khadse switched over to the NCP because of rift with some BJP leaders. But his heart was always with the previous party (BJP). It became apparent that he would return to the BJP when the party re-nominated his daughter-in-law and Member of Parliament Raksha Khadse from the Raver constituency (in Jalgaon district)," as quoted by PTI.
"Khadse also realised that he has no political future with Sharad Pawar," said the former Union minister, who aligned with deputy CM Ajit Pawar when the NCP split in July 2023.
