PM Modi Makes Another Multilingual Appeal For Lok Sabha Phase 2 Polls After Low Turnout In First Leg
Lok Sabha Phase 2 Polls: PM Modi, Union Ministers Amit, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal and Rajnath Singh urged people to exercise their franchise after the first phase saw a lower voter turnout.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the voters to participate in record numbers as the second phase of polls opened on Friday for 88 Lok Sabha seats across 12 states and one Union Territory. After a relatively lower voter turnout in the first phase last week, Modi stressed that a higher voter turnout strengthens democracy.
"Urging everyone in constituencies voting today, in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections, to participate in record numbers," said Modi in a social media post on X, adding, "A high voter turnout strengthens our democracy."
"I especially urge our young voters and women voters to turn out in great numbers. Your vote is your voice," he added.

He sent out the post in six other regional languages including Hindi, Bangla, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Assamese as polling began in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Manipur, Rajasthan, and Tripura.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also urged voters to exercise their franchise and "to participate in this celebration of democracy with full enthusiasm and cast votes in record numbers for a strong, secure, and prosperous nation."

"As the polling for 2nd phase of the Lok Sabha Elections begins, urging the people voting today to do so in record numbers," said Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
"The second phase of voting is being held today in the biggest festival of democracy, Lok Sabha elections 2024," said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari as he urged voters to step out and "contribute to strengthening democracy."
Union minister Piyush Goyal urged voters to ensure "to vote for a safe, prosperous and developed India" in the second phase of voting.
