The Election Commission of India (ECI) is anticipated to release the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 after March 13, according to India Today, citing ECI sources. The Election Commission's teams are on the ground reviewing the election preparation of several states, and the exercise will likely be completed by March 13.
The Election Commission of India's senior officials meet on a regular basis with the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of various states to identify problem areas ahead of the elections. According to the article, the ECI is deliberating on practical issues such as the transportation of electronic voting machines (EVMs), the need for security personnel, vigilance along state borders, and so on.
Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a 10 day visit to 12 states and union territories. Officials have said that he will visit: Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Delhi.
On Monday, at a public event in Chennai, PM Modi stated: "The BJP central government is committed to the development of Tamil Nadu. People of DMK are having a problem that the Government of India is sending money directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries here...I want to tell them (DMK) that Modi will not let you loot the money of the people of Tamil Nadu and the money you looted will be recovered and spent for the people of the state. This is Modi's guarantee."
Earlier on Monday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lambasted the central government over the State Bank of India (SBI) moving the Supreme Court seeking an extension of time to disclose electoral bond details, terming it a last-ditch attempt ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to hide Prime Minister Narendra Modi's real face.
In a post in Hindi on X, Gandhi said, Narendra Modi has put his entire force in order to hide the 'donation business'.
