Lok Sabha Election 2024: NDA Partner RLD Names Candidates For UP's Bijnor And Baghpat

However, there is no clarity on the number of seats RLD will be getting to contest in the alliance. On Saturday, Jayant Chaudhary met Amit Shah and J P Nadda and formally joined the ruling NDA.

New Delhi: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), which recently joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has announced its candidates for two Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the upcoming elections. Chandan Chauhan will be contesting from the Bijnor constituency, while Rajkumar Sangwan will be the candidate from Baghpat. This move comes after the BJP, the senior partner in the NDA, had already announced 51 candidates from the state.

According to a post on X, Chandan Chauhan will be RLD's candidate from Bijnor and Dr Rajkumar Sangwan from Baghpat constituencies. 

Notably, Chandan Chauhan, is a sitting MLA of the party from Meerapur in Muzaffarnagar, On the other hand, Rajkumar Sangwan, contesting from Baghpat, is a seasoned leader within the party and holds the position of national secretary, associated with the RLD since the time of Chaudhary Ajit Singh.

In the previous elections, Baghpat was won by BJP's Satyapal Singh, who defeated RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary. Similarly, Bijnor was won by BSP's Malook Nagar. However, there is currently no clarity on the exact number of seats that the RLD will be allocated to contest within the alliance. 

The RLD also announced Yogesh Chaudhary as a candidate for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council election.

On Saturday, Jayant Chaudhary met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president J P Nadda and formally joined the ruling NDA. The RLD also announced the name of Yogesh Chaudhary as its candidate for the coming election to the state legislative council where the term of 13 candidates is coming to an end this May. Till recently, a part of the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc, Singh had been warming up to the BJP of late.
