BJP Set To Release First Lok Sabha Candidate List This Week? Here’s What Yediyurappa Said

BJP veteran B S Yediyurappa anticipates the release of the initial list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections within the span of three or four days.

B S Yediyurappa, a stalwart in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its Parliamentary Board member, disclosed on Sunday that he anticipates the release of the initial list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections within the span of three or four days. Speaking to reporters, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka expressed confidence in the BJP's prospects, attributing the favourable atmosphere to the widespread popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"We will get to know in three or four days, who is the candidate and if there are any changes...I expect it (first list to be released in three or four days)," remarked Yediyurappa in response to queries about the candidate selection process, as quoted by news agency PTI. He emphasised the significant sway of Prime Minister Modi's popularity, stating, "Because of Modi, across the country and even in Karnataka there is an atmosphere in favour of the BJP."

BJP Aims To Win All 28 Lok Sabha Seats In Karnataka: Yediyurappa

The BJP, having secured a resounding victory in the 2019 general elections by clinching 25 out of 28 seats in Karnataka, aims to replicate its success in the upcoming polls. Yediyurappa affirmed this ambition, asserting, "the party's effort is to win all the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state...I'm confident that we will be successful in this."

Regarding speculation surrounding the Mandya seat and the potential alliance dynamics, Yediyurappa maintained, "nothing has been discussed, I don't have any information, things will be clear in a couple of days." The BJP leader also lauded Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, expressing conviction in her victory from the Udupi-Chikmagalur segment.

"A postcard campaign has been initiated allegedly by some BJP workers urging PM Narendra Modi and party national president J P Nadda to not field Karandlaje from Udupi-Chikmagalur and give priority to new face," noted Yediyurappa, denouncing the campaign as a "systematic conspiracy." He reiterated his support for Karandlaje, affirming her competency and predicting a larger victory margin than her previous win.
