Congress Hits Back At Kangana Ranaut After Her 'Bada Pappu, Chhota Pappu' Jibe

Kangana Pappu in a veiled attack on senior Congress leaders said the "Pappu" of Congress should show proof of the allegation that she ate beef.

The Congress has slammed BJP's Mandi Lok Sabha seat candidate Kangana Ranaut for using offensive words against its leaders and advised her to stick to issues relevant to Himachal Pradesh. Congress leader from Himachal Pradesh Vikramaditya Singh said such words had never been used in Himachal Pradesh.

"I respect Kangana Ranaut a lot... But never before had such language been used in this holy land. She delivered a political speech in Manali, where she used an abusive term. She was in Manali but failed to talk about the local issues. A few months ago, Manali was struck by a natural disaster. She did not even visit the area," Vikramaditya Singh said.

"She abused our party, Himachal Pradesh, and me... We were on the ground after the disaster and ensured that restoration and relief works were carried out at the earliest. You [Kangana Ranaut] did not come to Manali even for a day. She needs to talk about her vision for Himachal," Vikramaditya further said.

In a veiled reference to the "beef" comment controversy, Vikramaditya further said: "People of Himachal are not interested in what you [Kangana Ranaut] eat or drink in Mumbai. We only want to know your plans for the state," he said.

Kangana at a public meeting in Himachal Pradesh, took a dig at the Congress and said that a "Bada Pappu" was sitting in Delhi and a "Chhota Pappu was sitting in Himachal". "Pappu is a term used in a derogatory manner by the Right wing to refer to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. "Chhota Pappu" was a clear reference to Vikramaditya Singh. Kangana was talking about the allegation against her that she liked beef.

Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar last week alleged that Kangana had admitted to having eaten beef and even liking it. Responding to the allegation, Kangana on Friday said that "Pappu" should show the video to prove the claim. Kangana promptly refuted the allegation, saying: " It is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me."
