Hubballi Student Murder: K'taka Deputy CM Accuses BJP Of Sparking Political Issue With Law & Order Allegations

Hubbali-Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka said that the case was serious but affirmed that a thorough investigation would uncover all details surrounding the incident.

A day after a stalker fatally stabbed to death the daughter of a Congress Corporator inside the BVB college campus in Hubbali, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar pointed fingers at the BJP alleging attempts to portray a lack of law and order in the state. He also reassured citizens that Karnataka has best law and order. Hubbali-Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka said that the case was serious but affirmed that thorough investigation would uncover all details surrounding the incident.

On Friday, the police identified the accused as Fayaz (23), an MCA dropout, who was a batchmate of the victim during their undergraduate course. The deceased woman, Neha (23) was the daughter of Niranjan Hiremath, a Congress Corporator.

Based on the entire incident captured on CCTV camera, the police said, Fayaz entered the college campus carrying a knife and stabbed Neha five to six times. In the midst of the attack, he also sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to the hospital along with the victim. However, Neha was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

On the incident, Hubballi- Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar said, "FIR has been registered in this case and the accused was also secured within an hour. He has been sent to judicial custody. It is a very serious case and we are investigating. In the due course of the investigation, everything will come to light..."

However, the case took a political turn after the law and order situation came under attack in the state. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said,"BJP is trying to threaten by showing that there is no law and order in Karnataka. Karnataka has the best law and order. They are just trying to tell the voters that they are going to put Governor's rule in the state. They cannot do it. The law will take its own course for everyone."
