HP Polls: Every Promise Made To The Public Will Be Fulfilled, Says Rahul Gandhi As Congress Returns To Power

"I assure you again, every promise made to the public will be fulfilled at the earliest," Gandhi added.

With the Congress's victory in the Himachal Pradesh elections on Thursday, Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi praised the people of the state and pledged that every promise made during the campaign will be kept, news agency PTI reported.

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi said, "Heartfelt thanks to the people of Himachal Pradesh for this decisive victory. Hearty congratulations to all Congress workers and leaders. Your hard work and dedication are truly behind this victory," he said in a tweet in Hindi.

"I assure you again, every promise made to the public will be fulfilled at the earliest," Gandhi added.

The party leaders also thanked the people of state for reposing faith in it and giving a clear mandate.

"This victory is of all of you. Thank you Himachal Pradesh," the party said in a tweet in Hindi from its official handle.

The Congress will now be in power in three states on its own and in as many others in coalition (Jharkhand, Bihar, and Tamil Nadu).

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge praised the people of Himachal and thanked them as well as party leaders for his party's win.

He credited Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra for the victory and hailed former Congress President Sonia Gandhi for her assistance in the polls.

He said it is a long journey ahead and "we will all sit together and discuss the way forward".

Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, claimed the Congress will safeguard its MLAs against BJP poaching. Baghel was the party's Himachal Pradesh senior observer.

Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh congratulated the state's people on the party's win.

"Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the people of Himachal and party workers for the huge victory of the Congress in Himachal assembly elections. This is the victory of all of you," Singh said in a tweet in Hindi.

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath said, "The beauty of democracy lies not in the power of any party but in the power of the people."

In Himachal Pradesh, the AICC is in charge of party affairs. Rajeev Shukla praised the performance of the party's workers and thanked all of the leaders for campaigning in the elections.

Anand Sharma, a senior Congress politician and former federal minister, expressed confidence that the party's success in Himachal Pradesh will have a knock-on impact in other states voting next year.

He expressed his gratitude to the people of Himachal Pradesh for demonstrating wisdom and maturity by handing the Congress a convincing win and a durable majority.

"Delighted over the victory of Congress in my home state Himachal Pradesh. I thank our people, the voters and people of Himachal who have demonstrated wisdom and maturity to give Congress a decisive victory and stable majority," he said.

"The victory will have resonance and a ripple effective in states that will go to elections next year," he also said.

Sharma, a member of the G23 group, campaigned for the party in the Himachal assembly elections, but afterwards complained that the party did not make good use of his skills.

"Equally also congratulating all the Congress workers for their spirited campaign and not overwhelmed by BJP's carpet bombing and unprecedented use of resources. Devbhomi has sent a message, loud and clear -- withdraw the Agniveer scheme and restore the old pension scheme," he said on Twitter.

He stated that an unified congress will produce a government that will forward the development agenda and fulfil the people's promises.

Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala hailed members of the party.

The Congress won 39 seats and led in another, giving it a simple majority in Himachal Pradesh.
