Haryana Election Results: ECI Dismisses Congress MP Jairam Ramesh's Claims Of 'Slowdown' In Counting
The Commission further said that approximately 25 rounds across all the constituencies are being updated every five minutes, which testifies dissemination of counting process in a speedy manner.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday dismissed allegations by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh regarding slowdown in updating results of Haryana Assembly Elections of 2024.
The ECI took to its X account to share its release that gives a detailed response to allegations made by the Congress party.
“The Commission unequivocally rejects your attempt to surreptitiously give credence to irresponsible, unfounded and uncorroborated malafide narratives,” the Election Commission said.
The Commission further said that approximately 25 rounds across all the constituencies are being updated every five minutes, which testifies dissemination of counting process in a speedy manner.
"Your memorandum also does not bring out any contrary facts as to the delay at any of the constituencies in Haryana or J&K,” the Election Commission stated.
The ECI stated that there is nothing on record to substantiate Congress's "ill-founded allegation" of slowdown in updating of results.
"With reference to your Memorandum No. 00144lAE-2024 dated 8.10.24 ragarding an unexplaiued slowdown in updating of results of Haryana Assembly Elcctions 2024 on the Website, the Commission notes that previously on June 4, 2024, in the context of General
Elections 2024, a somewhat similar concem was raised by INC which was ill-founded and dismissed by the Cornmission categorically responded that counting of votes is being carried out as per Rule 60 of Conduct of Election Rules at the designated counting
centres and by the designated authorities following Statutory and Regulatory regime," the press release by ECI stated.
Earlier in morning, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh questioned the slow updates on the Election Commission website during the counting of votes for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
"Like the Lok Sabha elections, in Haryana, we are again witnessing slowing down of uploading up-to- date trends on the ECI website. Is the BJP trying to build pressure on administration by sharing outdated and misleading trends @ECISVEEP?" He said in a post on X.
The Congress leader said that they have information that there are about 9-10 seats where 11-12 rounds of counting has been completed, however, the EC website and (TV) channels are showing trends available after only 4-5 rounds of counting.
"A kind of psychological games, mind games are being played. The Election Commission (EC) is a constitutional body, and it should not come under any pressure. I have written a letter to EC... when trends of 12 rounds of counting are available then why are you not uploading on the website? People of Haryana want a change and the mandate will be in favour of the Congress," Congress leader Jairam Ramesh claimed.
