Haryana: Woman ‘Molested’ At Deepender Hooda's Rally, Kumari Selja Demands Action, BJP Slams Congress
In Haryana, a female Congress party worker was allegedly molested at Deepender Singh Hooda's rally. The incident has prompted BJP's criticism while Congress MP Kumari Selja demanded action.
In Haryana, a Congress rally led by Deepender Hooda has sparked outrage after an alleged molestation incident involving a female party worker. Congress MP Kumari Selja raised concerns, stating that the woman had confided in her about the incident, confirming inappropriate behaviour by individuals on stage.
"I spoke to her, she told me that some people were touching her and trying to remove her from the stage. We saw the same in the video as well, and when I confirmed this with her, she told me that someone misbehaved with her. If something like this happens to a woman today, it is highly condemnable. Action should be taken on this," Selja said.

The Congress worker on whom there was an alleged molestation attempt at the rally said, "Deepender Hooda had come for an event. Some mischievous elements are making fake IDs using my name and commenting against my uncle and Congress candidate Jassi Petwar."
"Please don't use my name. I am entirely with Congress. It can be seen that I was standing right next to my uncle Jassi Petwar. I stand with him and support him," she emphasised.

"They don't respect anyone, including women, the poor, and Dalits. This is in their culture and DNA. If we get an application in this regard, then we will take action. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also expressed his outrage on social media platform X, labelling the incident as "most shocking." He claimed, "A woman Congress leader was molested on stage in the presence of Deepender Hooda by Congress leaders. Confirmed by news reports and even Kumari Selja. If women are not safe in Congress meetings in full public view during the daytime, can they be safe if Congress comes to power?"

Poonawalla further highlighted previous instances involving Congress, referring to women like Simi John, Sharda Rathore, and Radhika Khera, who had spoken out against abuse or "casting couch" culture within the party. He questioned the silence of senior Congress leaders, stating, "Where is Priyanka Vadra and Rahul Gandhi? No ladki hoon lad sakti hoon? Will they act on Hooda supporters?"
The Haryana government awaits a formal complaint regarding the incident before taking further action.
