3 Won, 7 Lost: How BJP Ministers In Nayab Singh Saini Cabinet Fared In Haryana Assembly Election

Among the ministers in the Nayab Singh Saini cabinet, the BJP gave tickets to 10 ministers, while denying another term to Mohan Lal Badoli, Seema Trikha and Banwari Lal.

Nayab Singh Saini led the BJP to a thumping victory in Haryana despite leading the party for seven months before the assembly elections in the state. The party made several massive reforms within the state government, including the introduction of schemes, to fight anti-incumbency in the state.

The party also dropped at least 16 MLAs, including ministers, to induct new faces in the party list. The BJP's radical measures managed to pay off with the party winning 48 seats in the 90-seat assembly. 

Among the ministers in the Nayab Singh Saini cabinet, the BJP gave tickets to 10 ministers, while denying another term to Mohan Lal Badoli, Seema Trikha and Banwari Lal.

Out of the ten ministers, only three ministers won, including CM Nayab Singh Saini, while seven ministers lost the assembly polls. Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta also lost from his Panchkula seat which was bagged by Congress' Chander Mohan. 

The ministers who won include: Mool Chand Sharma from Ballabhgarh, Nayab Singh Saini from Ladwa and Mahipal Dhanda from Panipat Rural.

Among the ministers who lost were Aseem Goel Naneola from Ambala City, Dr. Kamal Gupta from Hisar, Kanwar Pal Gurjar from Jagadhri, J P Dalal from Loharu, Dr. Abhe Singh Yadav from Nangal Chaudhry, Sanjay  Singh from Nuh and Subhash Sudha from Thanesar.

In Thanesar, Subhash Sudha was defeated by Congress candidate Ashok Arora by a margin of 3,243 votes in Thanesar. In Nuh, BJP's Sanjay Singh was in the third position, while Congress' Aftab Ahmed defeated INLD's Tahir Hussain by 46,963 votes.

Assem Goel was defeated in Ambala City by Congress nominee Nirmal Singh Mohra by a margin of 11,131 votes. Kamal Gupta also lost in Hisar against Independent candidate Savitri Jindal.

In the Jagadhri seat, BJP's minister Kanwar Pal faced defeat at the hands of Congress' Akram Khan who won by a margin of 6,868 votes. Meanwhile, Jai Parkash Dalal was defeated by Congress candidate Rajbir Fartia by a margin of 792 votes in Loharu.

Abhe Singh Yadav was defeated from Nangal Chaudhary seat by Congress' Manju Chaudhary by a margin of 6,930 votes.

On the other hand, Mahipal Dhana from Panipat Rural seat won against Congress party's Sachin Kundu by a margin of 50,212 votes. In Ballabhgarh, Mool Chand Sharma won by 17,730 votes over independent candidate Sharda Rathore. 

Out of the seven ministers who lost, the Congress won in six of the seats, while Independent candidate Savitri Jindal won the Hisar seat. Ranjit Singh Chautala, who contested as an independent from Rania after he was denied the BJP ticket, came third. The Rania seat was bagged by INLD's Arjun Chautala who defeated Congress' candidate Sarv Mitter, by 4,191 votes. 

In the poll results announced on Tuesday, the Congress won 37 seats, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won two seats, while Independents won three seats.

The BJP, on the other hand, not only increased its seat tally from 40 to 48 but also saw its vote share rise from 36 per cent in 2019 to nearly 40 per cent in 2024 polls.
