Delhi Lok Sabha Elections 2024:

The Union Territory of Delhi participated in the Sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 25, 2024. During this phase, voters from Delhi and seven other states and union territories cast their ballots to elect representatives for 59 seats in total. Delhi, which has seven Lok Sabha seats, held its election in a single phase.

Out of the 889 candidates contesting in the sixth phase across all regions, 162 were Delhi. The Election Commission of India (ECI) received 367 nomination forms from Delhi and after scrutiny and withdrawals, 162 candidates remained in the fray.

The battle in Delhi is primarily between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which secured all seven seats in the 2014 and 2019 elections, and an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress. The AAP and Congress alliance split the seats with AAP contesting four and Congress three.

Key contests in Delhi include seats in North East Delhi where BJP's two-time MP Manoj Tiwari faced former student leader Kanhaiya Kumar from Congress. Tiwari, a former Bhojpuri singer-turned-politician, was the only BJP candidate re-nominated, seeking a third term.

In the New Delhi seat, AAP's three-time MLA Somnath Bharti competed against BJP's Bansuri Swaraj. Delhi Minister Raaj Kumar Anand, who resigned from AAP, contested from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), making it a three-cornered fight.

In East Delhi, BJP's Harsh Malhotra, former Mayor of East MCD, was pitted against AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar. In West Delhi, former mayor and BJP candidate Kamljeet Sehrawat faced AAP's Mahabal Mishra, who had previously been elected as an MP from West Delhi in 2009 on a Congress ticket.

Veteran Congress leader Jai Prakash Agarwal contested against BJP's Praveen Khandelwal in the Chandani Chowk seat. BJP MLA and opposition leader in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bhiduri faced off against AAP's Tughlaqabad MLA Shahi Ram in South Delhi.

In Northwest Delhi, BJP fielded Yogendra Chandolia against former MP Udit Raj from Congress.

Delhi's Lok Sabha elections were conducted in a single phase, consistent with previous elections, given its seven seats. This pattern remained unchanged for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
