Arvind Kejriwal Meets Winning AAP MLAs In Delhi. Analyses Party's Defeat, No Discussion On LoP Pick

AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal met with winning candidates after the party's loss in the Delhi assembly elections.

Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal met with the winning party candidates on Sunday a day after AAP faced crushing defeat in the Delhi assembly polls.

Outgoing Chief Minister Atishi who attended the meeting said reasons for defeat of the party were discussed during the meeting. She also said there was no discussion on who will be Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly.

The Bharatiya Janata Party made a historic comeback in the national capital winning 48 of the 70 assembly seats. Whereas, AAP registered victory on 22 seats and Congress failed to open its account for the consecutive third time.

Kejriwal, who lost his New Delhi seat to BJP's Parvesh Verma, directed the elected MLAs to serve people and solve their problems, Atishi said.

"Right now analysis is going on as to why AAP lost, but this is the mandate of the people of Delhi, we respect the mandate," she said while speaking to reporters after the meeting.

"This election was conducted with so much hooliganism, such an election would have never happened in the history of Delhi. Where money is being distributed openly, liquor is being distributed openly, police are getting it distributed, and whoever is complaining about this is being put in jail," she added.

AAP will play the role of a constructive opposition, she said, adding the party will ensure that BJP gives Rs 2,500 to women, free power and continues other facilities for Delhi people.

"Arvind Kejriwal said that we need to raise the issues of people and ensure that the BJP fulfil its promises," said AAP leader Vishesh Ravi, who won the Karol Bagh constituency.
