Delhi Election Results 2025: In a historic victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the party has returned to power in Delhi after 27 years, ending its long opposition streak. The 2025 Delhi Assembly election saw several high-profile losses, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and senior leaders like Satyendar Jain, Dushyant Gautam, and Haroon Yusuf.
Major Upsets in Delhi Election 2025
Arvind Kejriwal, the three-time Chief Minister of Delhi, suffered a significant defeat in the New Delhi constituency, losing by 4,089 votes to BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh. The loss marked a major setback for the AAP chief who was caught in a triangular contest including Congress' Sandeep Dikshit.
Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister, faced defeat in Jangpura, losing to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah by 675 votes. Marwah secured 38,859 votes, claiming victory in the constituency.
AAP’s Satyendar Jain, contesting from Shakur Basti, lost to BJP’s Karnail Singh, who secured a margin of 20,998 votes. According to the Election Commission, Karnail Singh received 56,869 votes, while Satyendar managed 35,871. Congress candidate Satish Kumar Luthra trailed behind with 5,784 votes. Satyendar Jain, a three-term MLA from the seat, was seeking re-election but faced a significant defeat.
In Greater Kailash, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, who initially led by over 3,000 votes, was defeated by BJP’s Shikha Roy. Roy overturned the deficit in the fifth round of counting and won by a margin of 3,188 votes. Congress’s Garvit Singhvi finished a distant third, trailing by nearly 43,000 votes.
AAP’s Avadh Ojha lost the Patparganj seat to BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi by a massive margin of 28,072 votes. Avadh Ojha replaced former deputy CM Manish Sisodia in this seat as a candidate after Sisodia managed a narrow victory in the 2020 election. This time, Negi secured 74,060 votes, sealing his victory.
Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha and former minister Rakhi Birla also suffered a defeat in Madipur. BJP’s Kailash Gangwal emerged victorious, while Congress’s Jai Prakash Panwar finished third. Birla lost by 10,899 votes.
Former AAP minister Somnath Bharti lost in the Malviya Nagar assembly constituency against former Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay by a margin of 2,131 votes. While Satish Upadhyay won 39,564 votes, Somnath Bharti bagged 37,433 votes.
In Ballimaran, Congress veteran Haroon Yusuf was defeated by AAP’s Imran Hussain, who won the seat by a significant margin of 29,823 votes.

Delhi Election Results 2025: A Few Wins For AAP Amid Heavy Losses
While AAP suffered a series of defeats, outgoing chief minister Atishi and three AAP ministers—Gopal Rai, Mukesh Ahlawat, and Imran Hussain—managed to retain their seats. Atishi won in South Delhi's Kalkaji, amid the defeat of top AAP figures, against BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’s Alka Lamba.
Gopal Rai won in Babarpur by 18,994 votes. Mukesh Ahlawat secured victory in Sultanpur Majra with a margin of 17,126 votes. Imran Hussain retained Ballimaran, winning by 29,823 votes.
Delhi Election Results 2025: NOTA Outperforms BSP, CPI(M) in Delhi Elections
Notably, the ‘None of the Above’ (NOTA) option received more votes than the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] in the 2025 Delhi elections. According to the Election Commission, NOTA secured 0.57 per cent of the vote share, compared to BSP’s 0.55 per cent and CPI(M)’s 0.01 per cent.
The total voter turnout for the Delhi Assembly elections stood at 60.54 per cent, with 94,51,997 people casting their votes out of the 1.55 crore registered voters. The NOTA option, introduced in 2013, allows voters to reject all candidates while maintaining their ballot secrecy.
With BJP securing a decisive victory, the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections have reshaped the capital’s political landscape, ending AAP’s decade-long dominance along with the saffron party's 27-year exile from power.
