Delhi Election: CM Atishi Postpones Nomination Filing, Accompanies Kejriwal To File Complaint With ECI

Delhi Election 2025: Atishi is contesting against former BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress candidate Alka Lamba from the Kalkaji seat. She has postponed her nomination filing.

Delhi Elections: Delhi Chief Minister and AAP candidate from Kalkaji, Atishi, who was scheduled to file her nomination for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections on Monday, did not proceed with the filing. Instead, she accompanied AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal to the Election Commission of India to lodge a complaint.

As she was slated to file her nomination today, Atishi offered prayers at the Kalkaji Temple and Giri Nagar Gurdwara. Speaking to the media, she said, "Today I am going to file my nomination, and before filing my nomination, I have come to Kalkaji temple to seek blessings of Kalkaji Mai. May the blessings of Kalkaji Mai remain on AAP and the people of Kalkaji, Delhi."

"The people of Kalkaji have given me a lot of love... I am not contesting the election of Kalkaji but the people of Kalkaji are contesting it," she remarked.

Given the postponement, the AAP is yet to reveal when CM Atishi will file her nomination.

Atishi, who is seeking re-election, is contesting against former BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress candidate Alka Lamba. "I have worked tirelessly in my constituency for the last five years. The people of Kalkaji are my family, they see me as their daughter and their sister. I am not just a representative, I am a part of their lives," she said.

Taking a jibe at the BJP, she accused the party of being anti-poor. She said the BJP is a 'jhuggi virodhi' and 'gareeb virodhi' party.

Bidhuri, a former MP from South Delhi and a three-time MLA from Tughlakabad, is known for his strong political record, winning elections in 2003, 2008, and 2013. The Congress has also entered the fray with Alka Lamba, National President of Mahila Congress.

Lamba, who was with the Congress from 1994 to 2014 before briefly joining the Aam Aadmi Party, has now returned to her former party, vying for a comeback in this high-stakes election.

The 70-member Delhi Assembly goes to polls on February 5 and the results will be announced on February 8.
