'Historic Step': Congress Hints United Oppn After Meeting Nitish Kumar And Tejashwi Yadav
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has said that opposition leaders have decided to contest upcoming elections together.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said that opposition leaders have decided to contest upcoming elections together. Addressing the media after the meeting of opposition leaders including Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi Yadav and others, Kharge said that the leaders had a historic meeting and discussed many issues. He said the parties reached a consensus on fighting elections as one.

"Today we had a historic meeting here and discussed many issues. We all have decided to unite all (opposition) parties and fight the upcoming elections unitedly: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. We have decided that all the parties have to unite. And we have to fight elections together in future," Kharge said.
He added, "Today Rahul ji, Nitish ji and Tejashwi ji and party leaders and friends, today we had a historic meeting." Reacting to the meet, CM Nitish Kumar said, "We will unite the opposition party across the country."
Sources have told ABP News that Nitish Kumar has been given the responsibility of talking to other opposition parties. They further said no discussion was held to make Nitish Kumar the UPA Convener.
ANI reported citing sources that there will be a meeting of opposition parties by the end of April. After holding talks with them, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will talk to opposition parties.
Several Opposition leaders including Congress, RJ(D), and JD(U) reached Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on Wednesday. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, JD(U) chief Lalan Singh, Congress MP Naseer Hussain, Rajasthan Congress chief Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa were present during the meeting. Congress leaders Mukul Wasnik and Salman Khurshid were also present during the meeting.
