'All Is Well That...': Akhilesh Says Alliance With Congress On, Hints At Breakthrough In Seat-Sharing Plan

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has said that his party will remain in alliance with the Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has said that his party will remain in alliance with the Congress for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024. However, the final seat sharing plan has not been out on which party will contest how many seats in the Uttar Pradesh. 

Speaking to reporters on the seat-sharing with the Congress, the SP chief said that all is well that ends well, yes, there will be an alliance, and there is no conflict. "All is well that ends well... Yes, there will be an alliance. There is no conflict. Everything will be out and clear soon... All is well that ends well," as quoted by news agency ANI on Wednesday.

On Monday, the SP said it offered 17 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh to the Congress. According to ABP News sources, Congress had to accept what the SP had offered. However, there is a slight change. The ABP News sources said that the Sitapur seat has been given to Congress and the Hathras seat was taken back. An aannouncement regarding seat-sharing is likely at 5 p.m.

The SP and the Congress are partners in the I.N.D.I.A. bloc, formed by opposition parties to take on the BJP in the upcoming general elections. The Yadav-led party had earlier offered 11 seats to the Congress. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Samajwadi Party managed to win 5 seats, and the Congress won 52 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party returned to power with an overwhelming majority, securing 303 seats.
