'Congress, Not BJP Began Row Over Bajrangbali': JP Nadda Slams Party Ahead of Karnataka Polls

On Sunday, Nadda urged the people of Karnataka to 'bless' the party by re-electing the double-engine government in the state.

New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on the Congress party, BJP national President JP Nadda on Monday said that the grand old party has lost its mental balance. He asserted that the BJP will secure a majority and form the government in Karnataka.

Notably, Karnataka will go to polls on May 10 while the counting of votes will take place on May 13.

Speaking to ABP Live, Nadda said, "Whenever we talk, we talk about the country. When a Member of Parliament takes an oath, they pledge allegiance to the nation, not just Karnataka."

Accusing the Congress party of indulging in appeasement politics, Nadda said, "We talk about national issues...it was the Congress party, not us, who initiated the issue of Bajrangbali (referring to Lord Hanuman). The Congress party engages in appeasement politics, while they level allegations against us."

The BJP and other right-wing organisations have been attacking the Congress over its manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka elections in which it has promised to ban organisations like Bajrang Dal.

Reacting to the ongoing controversy over the film 'The Kerala Story', Nadda said that the film exposes a new, poisonous form of terrorism in which bombs and ammunition are not used.

On Sunday, Nadda urged the people of Karnataka to 'bless' the party by re-electing the double-engine government in the state.

Taking to Twitter, Nadda said, "It was nice to be among people. The continuous support of the people of Karnataka to the BJP shows their appreciation for the development-oriented policies of our government. I appeal to the people to bless us by re-electing the double-engine government with a full majority".

Earlier in the day, JP Nadda held a roadshow in Harapanahalli in Karnataka's Vijaynagar district on Sunday.

Notably, Karnataka is the only State in the South where BJP is in power.
