Captain Still Feels Quitting Congress Was 'Mistake', Manish Tewari Following His Master's Voice: Harish Rawat
Rawat’s remarks came as the former Punjab chief minister had earlier taunted him over his displeasure with the functioning of the party’s Uttarakhand unit.
New Delhi: Launching a vitriolic attack on Captain Amarinder Singh for his jibe directed at him, Congress leader Harish Rawat on Saturday said the former Punjab chief minister is still feeling that quitting the grand old party was a mistake.
“I accept his (former Congress leader Amarinder Singh) best wishes. I think somewhere he is still feeling that quitting Congress was a mistake,” he said, ANI reported.
Rawat’s remarks came as the former Punjab chief minister had earlier taunted him over his displeasure with the functioning of the party’s Uttarakhand unit.
“You reap what you sow! All the best for your future endeavours (if there are any) @harishrawatcmuk ji,” he tweeted.
Rawat was the Punjab Congress in-charge when Captain Amarinder Singh was forced to step down as the chief minister earlier on September 19.
The former Uttarakhand chief minister also hit back at Congress leader Manish Tewari stating he is following his “master” Captain Amarinder Singh’s voice.
“And Manish Tewari is just following his master's (Amarinder) voice, as Amarinder Singh is following his master's voice,” he said.
Tewari had earlier on Thursday posted a cryptic tweet mocking Rawat.
“First Assam then Punjab now Uttrakhand….. Bhog poora hi paun gaye kasar na rahe jawe koi,” he wrote on the micro-blogging platform.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi earlier on Friday pacified sulking Rawat and gave him the green signal to lead the party’s campaign in the upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly elections.
The Congress high command has, however, made it clear that a decision on the name of the chief minister would be taken only after the party wins the elections.
