In the last Delhi polls, JD (U) contested two seats in the alliance. However, its candidate Shailendra Kumar, who contested from Burari seat, was defeated by Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Sanjeev Jha.
BJP had released its third candidate list for the Delhi polls on January 12, announcing only one candidate, Mohan Singh Bisht from the Mustafabad seat. Bisht has now been given a ticket from Mustafabad.
Earlier today, the BJP named its 40 star campaigners for the Delhi polls, including PM Narendra Modi and Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Purvanchali leaders and MPs Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan, were also on the star campaigners' list.
The seven chief ministers who will campaign as BJP's star campaigners in Delhi are Devendra Fadnavis, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Nayab Singh Saini, Bhajan Lal Sharma, and Mohan Yadav.
The saffron party has fielded former MP Parvesh Verma from the New Delhi seat against former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. Meanwhile, Ramesh Bidhuri will be contesting against Delhi CM Atishi in Kalkaji.
Voting to the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held on February 5, and the counting of votes will be done on February 8.
