AIMIM Fielded Accused In Several Delhi Riot Cases
According to the News 18 report, the Mustafabad seat, which was won by AAP's Haji Yunus in 2020, witnessed a four-way contest in the 2025 Assembly elections. While the BJP capitalised on the "Bisht brand," Congress, AAP, and AIMIM focused on caste-based politics.
AIMIM, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, fielded Tahir Hussain, a figure accused in several Delhi riot cases, who garnered 33,474 votes but finished in third place. Congress candidate Ali Mehdi secured 11,763 votes, taking the fourth spot.
Bisht, a five-term veteran from the Karawal Nagar seat, was relocated to contest from Mustafabad in a significant reshuffle by the BJP. He attributed his victory to the support of the party’s leadership and promised comprehensive development for the constituency.
The BJP won 48 seats of the 70-strong Delhi assembly, ousting from power the Aam Aadmi Party headed by former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
