The political campaigning for Telangana will come to an end on Tuesday as the 119-member Legislative Assembly will go to polls in a single phase on November 30.
In a blow to the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, the Election Commission of India on Monday revoked the permission granted to the KCR-led party to disburse financial assistance under the Rythu Bandhu scheme. The ECI's decision triggered a blame game between the Congress and the BRS with the latter accusing the grand old party of "snatching" the payment of the farmers.
In a letter written to CEC Rajiv Kumar, Telangana Congress senior vice president G Niranjan accused the BRS leaders of making the EC's nod to disbursal of funds as a “tool to influence” voters as if they are giving it out of their own pockets.
"Dirty politics of Congress has once again surfaced. They are delaying the payment of Rythu Bandhu, which is an ongoing payment. It is not an election promise. It is not a new programme that is made for the elections," BRS MLC K Kavitha told PTI.
Meanwhile the Congress blamed the BRS leaders for the situation saying that in desperation to hang to power, they have ended up denying what is due to farmers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who addressed election rallies at Mahabubabad and Karimnagar on Monday said that the BJP will free Telangana from the clutches of BRS, saying said it is his party's resolve to send the corrupt leaders of the Chandrasekhar Rao-led party to jail.
Telangana is seeing a three-faced challenge with BRS trying to retain its position for a third term since the formation of the state in 2014 while Congress and BJP attempt to break the spell.

As Telangana readies itself for the upcoming elections, Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj provided a comprehensive overview of the election arrangements in Hyderabad. Raj stated, "...Teams and polling parties have been dispatched along with security forces... They will look at the arrangements at the polling stations... Tomorrow morning at 5:30, they will start the mock poll. Once the mock poll is done, they will start the poll at the correct 7:00 a.m..."
